Meditation Techniques

There are very many types of meditation practises and people have a number of reasons for learning the technque. Some people just use it for focusing on their breathing to bring oxygen deep into the lungs. Others use it to try to empty the mind, to get rid of all the clutter that is constantly in our heads if only for a few minutes. Another technique is called mindfulness meditation which focuses on the here and now, with awareness of thoughts and feelings and surroundings from moment to moment without judgement or analysis. A lot of people are drawn to meditation because it helps to relieve stress and can help in many medical conditions.

Some people find it easier to focus by looking at a mandala or concentrating on a particular phrase.

Learning to meditate is not difficult but it helps to have an experienced instructor who can help you achieve your particular goals and help you get the most out of the practise.
