Tai Chi Chuan

Tai Chi is made up of a sequence of slow, smooth and graceful movements called forms or sets, many of which were derived originally from martial arts. It combines exercise with meditation.

One aim of Tai Chi is to circulate the body's vital force or 'chi'. By doing so health and vitality are enhanced according to this ancient Chinese belief system and form of medicine.

Tai Chi aims to promote a peaceful and tranquil mind. Correctly learning the exercises allows one to understand balance, alignment, motor control, rhythm of movement and so on. This new understanding can contribute to better standing, walking, movement, running etc..

Those that practise tai chi regularly notice many benefits such as  the correction of poor posture, alignment or movement patterns which can often contribute to tension or injury. Also the meditative nature of the exercises is calming and relaxing.
